WC (White Christmas Market)
an algorithmic mashup installation performance - live2002/2025

WC (White Christmas Market) was originally written in December 2003,
when my way to work in Cologne crossed a christmas market; waves of alcohol-drenched air were wafting ffrom all the hot wine & candy booths, as one drifted through the strains of christmas songs playing from these booths, always gently crossfading.
At at record store, I stumbled onto a collection of 40 versions of
White Christmas (one of the most covered songs of all time),
including reggae, funk, and surf versions.
To celebrate this coincidence, I wrote a program in SuperCollider 2
that would superimpose up to 6 randomly chosen segments of these,
as a continuous multichannel sound installation.
The version playing today was remade in 2025 for the Nontrivial
Xmas Party of the Society for Nontrivial Pursuits.
